We at SCOT are delighted to share the remarkable achievement of our Past President (1991–1993), Dr K. Sivakumar, who has transformed a lifelong passion for Indian art history and architecture into an outstanding academic journey. This has culminated in an MA from SOAS, University of London, followed by a PhD from Tamil University, Thanjavur, and the publication of his captivating new book, The Glories of Thiruvarur Gopuras.

The official launch of the book will take place on Sunday, 27 September, at the Bhavan Centre, London.

This event is more than a celebration of our rich cultural and architectural heritage. It is also an opportunity to support a worthy cause. Dr Sivakumar has generously chosen to donate all proceeds from the book launch to SCOT, helping us continue our work with some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children in Sri Lanka.

For many years, SCOT has been committed to improving the lives of children and families affected by poverty and hardship. Through educational assistance, welfare support, healthcare initiatives, and community development projects, we strive to create opportunities, restore hope, and help children build brighter futures. Every contribution enables us to reach those most in need and make a meaningful, lasting difference in their lives.
